It's been awhile since I bought food from here.We were bz doing some Christmas shopping and we lost track of time n it was alittle late to make dinner. So we decided since we haven't had food from here in awhile Why not?!?!.So I placed a pick up order.I ordered 3 Ala cart dishes. The roast duck, seafood cake noodles and the Lemon chicken. It took roughly 15 minutes.I was surprised it wasn't bz for it was a Friday night n it was during The holidays..So As far as the food. The sea food cake noodles were really good and also the Lemon chicken.I wouldn't say the same about the roast duck.It overly re heated it wasn't fresh with a hint of burnt flavor..No not so good. But hey when your hungry you ll just eat right?.Other then that ill still be coming back from time to time..

Stop in and support this business! It's a corner restaurant full of a large menu. I got the steak and shrimp plate with kimchi , sweet and sour chicken plate, and bbq meat plate. All was very delicious and the service was immaculate. Super quick and working super hard. My steak was medium and was very pink but overall everything was good. Come support this business.

Uber driver recommended this restaurant. We were tired of cruise food and wanted "local." Great casual lunch spot which is exactly what we wanted. And they make their own kim chee. After lunch walk up a couple blocks to the Kuai Museum.

One of my favorite dinner spots in Kauai When all the locals come here for dinner, you KNOW it's LEGIT! Whenever I come to Kauai, we make sure to make it a point to eat here for dinner at least once. The restaurant truly gives a great blend of local and fusion foods. Everything I have had here has been great. There's a large menu so don't get too lost. You can't really go wrong, just pick what food you enjoy most. Here are my favorite items: *** Sizzling Beef *** Egg Foo Young with pork - Szechuan Beef - Chicken Katsu - Lemon Chicken Tons of seating so bring your large families portions are fairly large so one entree will fill you up. one person complained the sodas came in a can and not a fountain drink. Obviously not a huge deal but just FYI

Ordered takeout. Cashew chicken and Honey Walnut Shrimp. Both were incredibly tasty. The shrimp as enough for 2 days and the chicken 4 additional meals. Tons of great food. The only negative was when we got back to our resort, there was no rice. Easy fix, I ran down to the Sushi restaurant on-site and got some sticky rice. Yummy!!

It's already the middle of 2024 and I feel like l've dined at Garden Island Barbecue & Chinese Restaurant at least a dozen times never making an attempt to submit a friendly Yelp Review! Few special occasions in the past, also my family has ordered take out for small occasional dinners, yet where have I been? They're located on the corner of Rice & Hardy Streets in Lihue. As I love Chinese food and prefer to casual dine most of the time. My better half and I have ate here last month. First of all, finding parking can be found either street side, or right behind of the restaurant, you'll find lots of free ample parking space. My other half ordered egg foo yung with shrimp, while I ordered new york steak and shrimp. Both dishes were delicious, hot and fresh, large in size, and service was quick and easy. They also have take out and has been such a popular restaurant amongst the locals. Restrooms are located through the kitchen, this restroom is super clean too!

Where to eat in Lihue, Kauai if you are starving. Came here in our rental car aight from the airport. Starving after a ten hours in flight with a stopover in Maui, and picking up the rental car. Big and expansive restaurant with floor to ceiling windows, but rather simplistic tables and chairs. No uniformed waiters, and no cloth napkins nor cloth tablecloths. Service is speedy with food arriving 7 minutes after ordering. The $14.95 katsu chicken and bbq chicken combo is a mother of all huge portions, with at least a dozen long slices of katsu chicken, and three large slabs of bbq chicken. The lightly breaded katsu chicken is moist on the inside, with white chicken going well with the super sweet dipping sauce. The bbq chicken has a agreeable mild bbq taste, not slathered with bbq sauce. Kind of like a mild version of L&L bbq chicken, which is the best in Hawaii or California. Comes with a mild mayo tasting mac salad, and two scoops of white rice. The $14.95 garlic shrimp and char siu comes with perhaps 6 large garlic shrimp and a dozen pieces of pork. Wife normally hates having to peel the shrimp, but says the garlic shrimp was tasty and worth the effort. I tasted the pork, and found it of quality fresh meat. Wife finished it all, despite not being a fan of char siu. She loved the side of kim chee, made super spicy. All these chicken, pork, and shrimp dishes were of high quality, fresh, cooked perfectly, and tasty without being drowned in sauces. Portion sizes could easily feed two people. Best in Kauai for Chinese food and BBQ food awards cover an entire wall. But you got to check the competition of Chinese restaurants, which isn't much in on Kauai, and lowly Panda Express up there near the top of Chinese food in Maui and Honolulu. .

Every visit to Kauai, while we put in our steps walking our way around Lihue, we always pass by Garden Island BBQ & Chinese restaurant, I keep telling myself I will check it out, but never happened. Finally decided to get take out for hotel stay and it was the best decision ever. While waiting for my order, I noticed all the Best of the Best Awards on the wall and Best Of Kauai stickers on the door. This place must be good! Don't want to think there is not much competition for Chinese restaurants on Kauai, but I did read some great reviews and the food photos looked really good. Yelpers and residents of Kauai knows their stuff! Note, Garden Island has both local foods like and an L & L plus Chinese food, you get the best of both world here. There are so much varieties of items on the menu booklet, it will be hard to decide on what to order. I am excited to try the fried chicken as I read it was good, I got the set menu for 2, ($47.95) which was more than enough for 2, this was lots of food which lasted us a few meals at the hotel. The set menu for 2 comes with scallop soup, fried chicken, fried rice, and shrimp with vegetables. The only complaint I have is the scallop soup, I couldn't really taste much scallop (dried) from the soup, it had more ground pork, this soup is similar to the egg drop soup. Wow, the award goes to the chicken!, it was really crispy and tasty! ( trust me on this one, you have to try the chix.) I like that the chicken is cut up so both parts of the chicken will have the crispy taste and it is fully cooked evenly for the crispiness. I asked if they could do lup chong fried rice instead of char siu, and Yay they can, I miss eating lup chong! Overall, the other half and I really enjoyed the food, the hubby mentioned good choice and I still scored brownie points with him! Totally Recommend, you know, I will be back!
